About Grahan Village
At around 7,700 feet above sea level, Grahan is one of the oldest villages in the Parvati Valley. Home to roughly 300–400 people, it sits about 7-9 km from Kasol and is accessible only via foot. You’ll follow a trail along the Grahan Nala, cross a few wooden bridges, and spend time amidst dense pine and deodar forests. Then, almost out of nowhere, you are greeted by the serene views of Grahan Village.
Life in Grahan still revolves around farming and livestock. Families grow maize, wheat, potatoes, and seasonal vegetables, while cattle and sheep graze on the surrounding slopes. Evenings are wonderfully quiet here. You’ll hear the river, maybe a few birds, and not much else. Grahan doesn’t have flashy cafés or busy streets. It wins you over with its slow pace, warm locals, and old-world mountain charm.

Day 1
Kasol → Grahan Village
09:00–10:00 am – Arrive in Kasol & trek briefing
- Reach Kasol bus stand / main market and meet your trek leader and group at the pre‑decided meeting point near the bridge or campsite.
- Short briefing on the route, expected trek time, water points and basic trail safety; gear check for shoes, daypack, rain jacket and warm layer.
10:00–1:30 pm – Kasol → Forest trail along Parvati river
- Start the trek from the trailhead near the Kasol bus stand bridge, where you will see red arrow marks on rocks and trees guiding the way to Grahan.
- The first part of the trail is mostly gentle but keeps gaining height steadily as you walk along or above the Parvati river through pine and deodar forests.
- You will cross a couple of small bridges and forest clearings, with tea stalls or seasonal dhabas selling chai and rhododendron juice during popular months.
1:30–3:00 pm – Last climb & arrival at Grahan village
- After about 3–4 hours of trekking, the forest opens up slowly and you start getting wider valley views; the last stretch is a short, steeper climb where you first see the cluster of houses.
- Most sources mention the total trek taking around 4–5 hours for 7–9 km, depending on your pace and breaks.
- Enter Grahan village, check in to your homestay / guesthouse and rest for a while with tea or a welcome drink.
3:00–5:30 pm – Explore Grahan village & surroundings
- After a late lunch, walk through the narrow village lanes, traditional wooden houses and terraced fields around Grahan.
- Visit common viewpoints above the village for sunset, watch daily village life, and, if your guide permits, see the local temple area while respecting all village rules.
- Grahan is known for its calm environment, mountain views and a strong local culture, so keep noise low and follow your leader’s instructions.
7:30–10:00 pm – Dinner, bonfire & night stay
- Enjoy a simple home‑style dinner (dal, sabzi, rice, roti, etc.) prepared by your hosts; some stays also arrange a small bonfire in the courtyard if the weather is dry and rules allow it.
- Spend some time stargazing – Grahan has very dark skies and clear views on cloudless nights – and then rest in shared rooms or basic dorms.
Day 2
Grahan → Kasol
7:00–8:30 am – Sunrise & breakfast
- Wake up early to watch the first light on the surrounding peaks and valley; early mornings are usually the quietest and most beautiful time in Grahan.

8:30–11:30 am – Grahan → Kasol descent

- The descent usually takes 3–4 hours for most people, including 1–2 short breaks by the river or at dhabas.
- Reach the starting bridge near the Kasol bus stand by late morning / early afternoon and close the trek with your guide.
11:30 am onwards – Free time in Kasol / onward travel
- After the trek, you are free to check into your own stay in Kasol or move towards Manikaran, Bhuntar or your next destination.
